NRC NOV – NOV (White)

On January 21, 2025, the NRC issued a notice of violation to South Texas Project Nuclear Operating Company (licensee) associated with a white significance determination process finding at South Texas Project Electric Generating Station. The white finding, an issue of low-to-moderate safety significance, involved the licensee’s failure to demonstrate that the performance of a Unit 2 load center breaker, had been effectively controlled through the performance of appropriate preventive maintenance such that the component remained capable of performing its intended function as required by Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 50.65, “Requirements for monitoring the effectiveness of maintenance at nuclear power plants.”
